God’s Glory Displayed: The Works of God

Decrees • Creation • Providence

In the first chapter of the Book of Romans the Apostle Paul points out to us that all men know that there is a God even if they do not acknowledge him because, “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world.” (Romans 1:19-20) Paul tells us that God does this so that we are without an excuse. John Calvin states that when we are filled with the knowledge of God that our lives will change so dramatically that our sole aim in life will be to “to acknowledge, laud, and celebrate the magnificence of His works.” (Institutes of the Christian Religion, 2.8.16)

It is this goal in mind that we will join together again for the 2010 Deep South Regional Founders Conference. We seek to know and worship our God more fully and celebrate his works that are displayed in his decrees, creation and providence.

This just in from the National Founders Conference, “The National Founders Conference will not not meet this summer.”

One of the four reasons that were given was how well the Regional Founders Conferences were doing.  Not to blow our own horn here, but as for the Deep South Regional Founders Conferences, we are doing quite well.  We had a great turn out this year in an economic downturn.  The participation was great and fellowship was encouraging.  With the downturn in the economy and a change in venue, we were concerned that the turn out would be low.  However, the Lord blessed us beyond measure and we had a great year.

We will be sending out a newsletter soon that will give more updates to next year’s conference.  If you are not on our mailing list (email or snail mail), please drop me a line at deep.south.founders@gmail.com and I would be happy to put you on the list.

Dear friends, it was a little over a week ago when I e-mail you asking for your prayers for our little Hannah. I am e-mailing you again, only this time to inform you that our many prayers have been heard. She is now cancer free! We are overwhelmed with joy at this news and look forward to spending many more years with our little Hannah.

As we wait for more information about Hannah’s condition, I wanted to let you know about a fund that has been set for the Taylors to help pay for medical cost and expenses that they have incurred and will incur in the coming months as they continue to treat their daughter, Hannah.  Please keep them in your prayers as they seek to glorify God as they do in all other aspects of their lives.

The following is from Saraland Baptist Church with a request for you to help a dear family in Christ:

Dear Friends:

As most of you know, Hannah Taylor, Yogi and Kelli Taylor’s daughter, underwent serious surgery on Friday to remove a neuroblastoma tumor from her body as well as bone marrow from both hips, and samples from the lymph nodes to see if the cancer had spread. She will be in the hospital at least ten days.

Although Yogi and Kelli have health insurance, the costs of deductibles and their part of the medical bills will be substantial (20% of the total cost). Also with this are the costs of staying at the hospital, eating out, etc. With this in mind, a fund has been set up at Saraland Baptist Church in Saraland, Alabama where Yogi is Pastor. You can contribute to the Hannah Taylor Fund and have a real part in helping Yogi and Kelli provide the best possible care for Hannah. Below is a letter from the Chairman of Deacons at Saraland Baptist Church giving details as to how this can be done. Please join us in bringing glory to God by sacrificially giving to help Yogi, Kelli and Hannah in their time of need.
